Man Critically Injured In Central Park Attack, Police Say
A man was struck in the back of the head with an unknown object by a suspect who fled the park on a bicycle.

CENTRAL PARK, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man wanted in connection with a Central Park assault that left a victim critically injured, police said.
On the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 22, a 53-year-old man was walking with a woman in the park near East Drive at East 106th Street when the couple were approached from behind by an unknown man on a bicycle, police said. The cyclist struck the man in the back of the head with an unknown object, police said.
The victim suffered a laceration to the back of the head during the assault and was rushed to St. Luke's hospital in critical condition, police said. The NYPD does now know the motive for the attack.

The suspect fled the park on a bicycle heading toward Madison Avenue, police said. A sketch of the suspect (seen above) was just released by the NYPD in an effort to identify the man.
