Pieces in this year's "Wreath Interpretations" exhibit are made out of plastic trophies, birthday candles, coffee wrappers and wigs.
CENTRAL PARK, NY — Central Park's annual "Wreath Interpretations" exhibit at the Arsenal Gallery opened this week, featuring off-the-wall holiday wreaths made from materials such as plastic trophies, birthday candles and wigs.
The exhibit will be on display at the Arsenal, located at the NYC Parks Headquarters in Central Park near Fifth Avenue and East 64th Street, through Jan. 2, 2020, Parks Department officials said. More than 40 wreaths created by local artists and organizations are featured in this year's exhibit.
"Tis the season for whimsical wreaths!" NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver said in a statement. "This year’s wreath collection celebrates creativity and spreads holiday joy with unusual materials and thought-provoking themes. We are proud to display the work of dozens of artists from all different backgrounds, and we encourage New Yorkers to visit the Arsenal for this fabulous free exhibition."
