Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Demi Lovato Headline Global Citizen Festival in Central Park
The big names are coming out once again for the Global Citizen Festival, a free concert held on the Great Lawn.
CENTRAL PARK, NY — Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar and Demi Lovato are among the bold-faced names set to headline this year's Global Citizens Festival in Central Park, the organizers announced Tuesday.
The concert is set for Sept. 24 on the Great Lawn. The festival is slated to start at 3 p.m. and last until 10 p.m. This is the fifth year the festival has been held by the Global Poverty Project.
The concert is free, but attendees must perform an "action" to get tickets to the event. This year, Global Citizen, the charity that runs the event, is directing those actions toward helping with education in developing countries and those affected by war and natural disasters. The specific list of actions are each awarded a set number of points, with attendees needing to acquire 30 points to earn tickets. And considering the high demand, there's a lottery involved. There will be 48,000 tickets up for grabs, but they will be distributed in pairs, so 24,000 winners will be drawn from the lottery.

Selena Gomez was originally announced as part of the lineup, but was replaced by Demi Lovato in early September as Gomez cancelled the remaining dates on her tour to deal with lupus.
Metallica and Major Lazer are the other names headlining the concert.

You can also expect shorter sets from guests Usher, Chris Martin (who headlined in 2015 with Coldplay), Eddie Vedder (lead singer for Pearl Jam), Ellie Goulding, Yandel and Yusuf Islam (you may know him as Cat Stevens).
It will be aired live on MSNBC if you're not in the giving mood, or just lose out on the lottery.
