Roger Federer Holds Surprise Practice Session In Central Park
Roger Federer, the No. 3-ranked men's player in the world, graced the Central Park public courts Wednesday night.

CENTRAL PARK, NY — Roger Federer decided to use his off day from U.S. Open competition to surprise New Yorkers with a practice session on Central Park's public tennis courts.
The No. 3-ranked men's player in the world and 19-time Grand Slam champion took to Central Park Wednesday night for an impromptu hitting session to get ready for a Thursday afternoon match against Russia’s Mikhail Youzhny.
"Central Park hitting," Federer said in a Twitter post. "Extremely cool experience."

As seen in the photos Federer posted to Twitter, the tennis superstar drew quite a crowd Wednesday. The night before, Federer beat up-and-coming American player Francis Tiafoe in five sets to advance past the first round of the tournament.
