SummerStage Renovations Approved By Community Board, Report Says
The $5 million renovation plan could be complete for the 2019 SummerStage series.

CENTRAL PARK, NY — A $5 million plan to upgrade the Central Park SummerStage venue was approved at the community board level this week, according to reports.
Community board 7 — which represents the Upper West Side — passed a resolution in support of the plan to renovate the performing arts venue, the West Side Rag first reported. The plan was submitted by the City Parks Foundation, an organization which organizes the annual SummerStage concert series as well as other events and projects in city parks.
The renovation project includes creating of six new stage foundations, replacing support columns on the stage, improving the electrical and wire systems and building a new stage and canopy, the West Side Rag reported.

Construction is expected to cost $5 million and be complete for the 2019 SummerStage series, the West Side Rag reported. About $2.9 million in public funding has been awarded to the project and the rest will come from private fundraising, according to the report.
The SummerStage venue is located in Central Park near the Naumburg Bandshell and Bethesda Terrace.
