1stdibs August's Modern Art

1stdibs Design Center at the historic Terminal Stores building in Chelsea provides the public with the best of the best from art to design.

New York City is a city like no other. It is a gem that shines not only from a distance but up close. New York City possess a charm like no other. A magic like no other. The city's main charm is in its ability in mixing the new with the old - the historic with the cutting edge be it in architecture, be it in design, be it in the arts. The city mélanges this beautiful blend in innovative ways and creative styles. The High line is a great example of the success of working with an old railroad and transforming it into one of the most beautiful parks I have ever seen. The High Line is a pathway of a beautifully landscaped walkway overlooking the calming views of the Hudson river while one fully enjoys a leisurely stroll in an architectural urban jungle oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of New York city. The beautiful landscape of an elevated linear park transports us away from the traffic, from the cars, the buses, the cabs, away from it all; yet within it all. The High line park manages not only to transport one but also manages to fully immerse one in what the city has to offer from its beautiful citiscape sceneries, architecture, environmental landscaping and public art.

Not too far from the High line and the new development of the Hudson Yards with its gem of a vessel (a true stairway to heaven and an elegant structure of a stairway to heavenly views) is the "Terminal Stores" building. The Terminal Stores building is only a short walk from these major landmarks of Manhattan. The historic "Terminal Stores" building houses many neat stores and within them is the high-end extensive 1stdibs design center in its 7th floor.

The historic Terminal Stores building was built in the 1890's. It is a landmark building that sits on 24 acres, and is located at the crossroads of Chelsea art galleries, the High Line and Hudson Yards.

I am very proud and pleased to have my latest abstract paintings in such a historic landmark and in such a wonderful place that loves and appreciates talented artists. My recent paintings echoing the softness of a breezy Summer day are done in a painterly style blending in the abstract with the landscape while presenting to the public what the abstract art of Vian Borchert is all about - minimal clean aesthetically and thoughtful art that aims to transport the audience into a higher and intellectual realm. "Surf" and "Ripple" my latest abstract paintings are currently showcased in a modern art group exhibition with "Gallery 104" at the 1stdibs design center. Upon taking the elevator to the 7th floor, one is met by the front desk lobby and right behind it is Gallery 104's section at 1stdibs where my paintings are on exhibit. The group exhibition is up for the month of August 2019. Be sure to go and have a look at the great art and design and furniture that 1stdibs has to offer. Lithographs from Picasso, Henri Matisse, Keith Haring to photographs by Richard Avedon and original paintings from yours truly and contemporary artists making waves in the current art scene are at 1stdibs gallery.
