Chelsea Market Adds Second Level Of Food Options
The popular food hall is opening a second level with additional food vendors and a grocery store.

CHELSEA, NY — Chelsea Market is adding a second level to its already numerous dining options with the launch of a lower level with a new grocery store and gourmet food stands.
The popular market dubbed its new floor the "Chelsea Local," a newly finished space that comes with more sitting areas for diners and people watchers and a whole new level of food options.
The lower level of the market opened to shoppers in a soft launch in August. The 13,000-square-foot space was previously storage for the Manhattan Fruit Exchange, according to the New York Times. The grocery store has moved from its previous home on the ground-floor level of the market to join the vendors of Chelsea Local, along with Buon’Italia, Dickson’s Farmstand Meats, Saxelby Cheesemongers, Heatonistfor hot sauces and Ronnybrook Farm Dairy.
