Chelsea 'Secret Garden' Flower Shop Opens At Moxy Hotel

Just in time for Valentine's Day.

CHELSEA, NY — Chelsea's 35-story Moxy hotel opened along with an elaborate flower shop in the new hotel's entryway on Valentine's Day.

The 349-room hotel's entryway will be adorned with an "overgrown botanical experience" with flowers, plants, and other travel and gift items from the florist company Putnam & Putnam for what Moxy described as a "secret garden." The entryway shop will be the florist duo Michael and Darroch Putnam's first brick-and-mortar shop.

"We can sell our own arrangements and favorite travel and gift items straight to the public in a way that hasn't been done in this area before," Darroch Putnam said in a statement.

The couple frequents Chelsea's flower district for their flower blooms, according to Putnam, so housing their first brick-and-mortar flower shop is "especially exciting," Putnam said.

The Putnams' flower fame has led them to be the choice of celebrities, including at Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falhuk's wedding and at fashion shows for brands such as Jason Wu, Net-a-Porter, and Brandon Maxwell.

Last October, they launched a book called "Flower Color Guide," which will also be on-sale at the shop.

"What an exciting, sensory experience for guests to enter the hotel through Putnam & Putnam's flower boutique and immediately encounter what the Flower District is all about," Mitchell Hochberg, president of Moxy Chelsea's developer Lightstone, said in a statement.

The shop is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., everyday.

The Moxy hotel in Chelsea is 35-stories high at 105 W. 28th St. The hotel opened on Thursday, but officially launches March 8, according to a company press release. Rooms start at $159 a night.
