City Winery Signs 25-Year Lease At Hudson River Park's Pier 57

The venue is expected to open early next year, according to City Winery.

CHELSEA, NY — City Winery formally announced its move from Hudson Square to Pier 57 in Chelsea.

The popular music and food festival venue and wine-maker signed a 25-year lease with RXR and developer Young Woo for a 32,000-square-foot space at Pier 57 in Manhattan's Hudson River Park, according to City Winery.

The venue was ousted current digs at 155 Varick St. when Disney purchased the building for its headquarters.

The venue is expected to open by early 2020 at Pier 57, located at the end of West 15th St., City Winery said.

"We are excited and honored to have found a home in Hudson River Park and to be amongst so many architecturally significant buildings in this area," City Winery's founder Michael Dorf said in a statement. "We are so happy to be part of this unique space and instantly felt a connection to it. To bring our winemaking, food, and music to this market complex feels like a karmic honor."

Pier 57 will also house additional Google offices at the former Marine and Aviation Pier, a rooftop park and its own market. Previously, the pier was expected to feature a food hall from the late celebrity chef and host of CNN's Parts Unknown Anthony Bourdain, which fell through in late 2017 before Bourdain died.

City Winery will include two performance venues — one 350-seat concert hall and a 150-seat loft space — as well as a restaurant and tasting room. The pier will feature views of Hudson River Park and Pier 55, where a floating park — dubbed Diller Island for its financier Barry Diller — is under-construction. City Winery's wine-making facilities and barrel storage room will be visible from the Hudson River Park esplanade and from the main entrance to Pier 57.

"City Winery is loved both in the community and across the city by New Yorkers who know there's nowhere better to see a concert while enjoying locally produced food and wine," Madelyn Wils, president of Hudson River Park Trust, said in a statement. "As a part of a larger marketplace, City Winery will add to the amenities and cultural opportunities available at Pier 57, and will offer additional indoor public space alongside Google."
