Cops Confirm 74-Year-Old Cyclist Among 15 Killed This Year
One month after Victor Ang lost his life, police confirmed he was one 15 cyclists killed in a crash in New York City this year.
HUDSON YARDS, NY — Police confirmed Friday that a 74-year-old man fatally struck by a UPS freight hauler was one of 15 cyclists to die in a crash this year.
Confirmation came one month after Victor Ang, of Leona New Jersey, died from his injuries caused in a collision on West 30th and 11th Avenue on April 27 about 6:40 p.m, police said.
Ang, who died in Bellevue Hospital on June 4, was riding a Citi Bike between the southbound lane and a row of parked cars when he and the United Parcel Service truck's rear tires, said police.

The 44-year-old truck driver remained at the crash site and was not charged, police said.
News that Ang had lost his life broke last week when cyclists Ernest Askew and Robyn Hightman died in crashes and the number of cycling fatalities in 2019 so far rose to 15, half as many more as died in 2018.

Ang was real estate agent and renowned photographer who is survived by his wife Sandy and daughter Charlene, according to his obituary on Legacy.com.
"He lit up every room he was in, and was known for his good sense of humor, his jokes, and laughter," the obituary reads. "He showed kindness to everyone around him."
