Eataly is opening the kiosk in collaboration with the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership Business Improvement District, which maintains neighborhood's public plazas.

The kiosk is one of two expected to open.

The BID announced in May that Flatiron Plate will serve wine, beer, MUD coffee and a menu similar to owner Perry Mallas's other outdoor outpost, Astor Plate in the East Village. That kiosk will be located on Broadway between 22nd and 23rd streets. Mallas also operates Benvenuto Café in Tribeca and previously operated another Flatiron food kiosk, Flatiron Green Café, until last year.

"The new kiosks will be terrific additions to the flourishing Flatiron food scene, which features more than 220 restaurants, bars, and casual food establishments," the executive director of the Flatiron BID James Mattham said in a statement back in May when the outdoor eateries were announced.
