"We are thrilled to announce the selection of Eataly and Flatiron Plate to operate our new food and beverage kiosks," the Flatiron/23rd Street BID executive director James Mettham said in a statement.

"The new kiosks will be terrific additions to the flourishing Flatiron food scene, which features more than 220 restaurants, bars, and casual food establishments," Mettham said.

Eataly's kiosk will be its first in North America and will feature wine, beer, artisanal gelato, and a to-be-revealed menu item with a traditional Italian recipe from Turin, Italy, according to the BID.

Flatiron Plate will have wine, beer, MUD Coffee, and a menu similar to Mallas' other outdoor outpost, Astor Plate.

"We opened our first restaurant on this corner in 1998, and since then it’s been our pleasure and privilege to serve the community by providing healthy, natural Mediterranean comfort food in an easy-going atmosphere," Mallas said in a statement. "So, this feels like coming home to a neighborhood where we have very deep roots."

Mallas also operates Benvenuto Café in Tribeca and previously oeparated another Flatiron food kiosk, Flatiron Green Café, until last year.

Hours for the new outdoor food spots have not been finalized, per the BID.

An open date has yet to be announced — but neighbors can expect the outposts to open up sometime in July or August.
