Japanese Food Festival Coming To Chelsea And UES
A two-day konamon food festival and competition — known for its "Japanese pizza" — is coming to Chelsea and the Upper East Side.

CHESLEA, NY — "Japanese pizza" is coming to a two-day street festival in Chelsea and the Upper East Side next weekend.
JAPANFes is hosting a competition for konamon, a style of flour-based Japanese food known for okonomiyaki, often called "Japanese pizza."
Chefs will battle it out to be named the top konamon shop.

Half the chefs will be from New York, half from Japan.
Eateries facing off include Fūgetsu (Hokkaido), Okonomiyaki Imari (Tokyo), Acatoki (Mie Prefecture), Takoyaki Bar Tom (Aichi Prefecture) and monja-yaki CHICO (Tokyo) and New York-based spots Karl’s Balls, BentON, Fuji Yakisoba and Osaka-ya.

Twenty-five other vendors will also be selling Japanese food.

September 21 in Chelsea, Eighth Avenue between 15th and 16th streets
September 22 on the Upper East Side, Lexington Avenue between 83rd and 84th streets
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days
