CHELSEA, NY — The Japanese steak chain Pepper Lunch is opening up its second New York City digs in Chelsea Wednesday.

The steak eatery provides a "cook-it-your-way" concept — where customers cook their own steaks on mini-teppan iron platters. Platters heat up to 500 degrees within one minute to keep meals warm until the last bite.

At Pepper Lunch, customers can purchase wines and sake for $5 from July 3-10 to celebrate its grand opening on July 3.

The Japanese chain was founded by Kunio Ichinose in 1994 and has more than 470 stories across 16 countries. The steak spot's Chelsea restaurant will be its second in New York City. The other location opened earlier this year in Midtown West.

Previously, the Chelsea location at 154 Seventh Ave. between 19th and 20th streets was the location of Ikinari Steak, a similar Japanese fast-casual steakhouse that shuttered 9 locations in New York City this year.
