Longtime Chelsea Yoga Studio Closing To Open 2 New Locations
After two decades in Chelsea, Laughing Lotus yoga studio will open locations in the Flatiron District and the Upper East Side.

FLATIRON DISTRICT, NY — After two decades in Chelsea, Laughing Lotus yoga studio will close its doors to make way for two new locations in the Flatiron District and the Upper East Side, the studio's owners announced recently.
Co-founders Dana Trixie Flynn and Jasmine Tarkeshi first opened the studio on a rooftop in 1999 in Greenwich Village, before launching a studio in Chelsea.
Laughing Lotus is now rebranding itself to create studios with single rooms to expand more throughout New York City in partnership with architect Ulises Liceaga and alternative medicine practitioner Katie Treadwell. The new brand's name is LL Studio by Laughing Lotus.

"My favorite memories have happened at Laughing Lotus right alongside all of you," Flynn said in a statement. "From our early beginnings on a rooftop in the sky to opening up our first little Lotus in 1999, it's that generous yogic spirit that we have all fallen in love with."
Its first location under the new brand opened in the Flatiron District Dec. 1 at 166 Fifth Ave. between 21st and 22nd streets. An Upper East Side location is set to open later this month.

"We have created a colorful, bright and sleek space," Liceaga said in a statement. "We wanted to create a space where people can practice yoga in a fun, party-like environment but also where yogis can relax and meditate in a serene, urban sanctuary."
Classes start at $30. An unlimited monthly pass is $250.
