Maison Kayser French Cafe Opens New Spot In Chelsea

CHELSEA, NY -- French bakery chain Maison Kayser opened its latest New York City eatery in Chelsea on Thursday, its owners announced.

The international chain opened its new location on the corner of 7th Avenue and 29th Street bright and early at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, celebrating with a free sandwich or salad to its first 500 visitors and complimentary coffee for all, General Manager Maijdi Zaineh told Patch.

"It's a beautiful location in the area right next to Madison Square Garden," he said. "We got a great reception from our guests in the area and tourists."

Award-winning baker Eric Kayser first launched Maison Kayser in Paris in 1996. The artisanal bakery, best known for its fresh bread made on-site, debuted in the U.S. on Manhattan's Upper East Side in August 2012, according to its website.

The chain has since expanded to 17 locations across Manhattan and one in Brooklyn Heights.

Maison Kayser's newest spot in Chelsea will feature both its traditional French bakery offerings - complete with specialty breads baked on-site - and a coffee bar with a to-go selection of coffee, tea and chocolate.

The new location is also among select Maison Kaysers to feature a full sit-down cafe serving breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner, Zaineh said. Right now, the eatery is offering a special grand opening for a $15 giftcard to those who spend over $40 at the cafe.

The cafe is open 6:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. - 1o p.m. on weekends.

Maison Kayser will serve breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., lunch on weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and dinner from 4 - 10 p.m. On weekends, the eatery serves a brunch menu from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
