Man Behind 'Humans of New York' Buys Chelsea Duplex for $2.45 Million

Brandon Stanton and his wife, Erin O'Donnell, purchased the historic pad neighboring the High Line.

CHELSEA, NY — The man who was once an anonymous journalist on the streets of New York City asking people for their most personal anecdotes is now a wildly successful Chelsea homeowner.

Photojournalist Brandon Stanton, the man behind the wildly popular photo/interview series, "Humans of New York," bought a two-bedroom apartment next to the High Line in West Chelsea, the Observer reported. Stanton and his wife, Erin O'Sullivan, spent $2.45 million on the duplex at 440 W. 23rd St., which was on the market for $2.4 million.

The apartment is in a townhouse built in the 1850s, which is part of a row of townhouses that used to make up an estate owned by Clement Clark Moore, the famous author of "The Night Before Christmas." The couple's duplex boasts a wood-burning fireplace, stone patio in the backyard, a big laundry room, a living room with a double-height ceiling and a garden.
