Massive 1,000-Pound Pumpkin Will Be Carved At Chelsea Market

CHELSEA, NY — You can watch a carving of a 1,000-pound pumpkin at Chelsea Market next week.

There won't be any pumpkin boating — like what this Tennessee man decided to do with his nearly 1,000-pound squash.

But the market is inviting all to come watch the carving of the mammoth fruit next Tuesday.

Chelsea Market's live pumpkin carving is set for Oct. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at The Chelsea Local, the market's recently expanded downstairs grocery shop.

The market is on Ninth Avenue between 15th and 16th streets.

On Oct. 31, for Halloween, restaurants and shops throughout Chelsea Market will be holding a trick-or-treating event at 3 p.m.
