UNION SQUARE, NY — Another Chase Bank location is coming to a park near you.

Chase Bank will take over the southwest corner of 16th Street and Union Square West — where the iconic Union Square Coffee Shop restaurant once stood until it shuttered last year after three decades in the neighborhood.

A portion of the former restaurant will, officially, be a Chase Bank, Jeremiah Moss, Vanishing New York, first wrote Thursday. A Department of Treasury notice shows an application for the bank was approved June 4.

There was apparently a public comment period in May, the bank application shows.

After Coffee Shop shuttered, there were rumors of a Chase Bank taking over part of the eatery.

Three other storefronts will be restaurants, the building's property manager Eric Gural of GFP Real Estate told Eater last year.

The eatery was famous for its appearance in "Sex and the City." Its well-known neon "Coffee Shop" sign, sidewalk cafe space in front of Union Square and vintage diner-style aesthetic have become fixtures of the corner.

Gural of GFP Real Estate did not immediately respond to comment.
