Location: Flatiron, 20 W. 23rd St.

Martina

Location: East Village, 198 E. 11th St.

What to eat: Pizza. Danny Meyer of Shake Shack fame has posited Martina as the burger joint's equivalent for fresh slices. The new fast-casual eatery in the East Village has a small dining space where you can eat in, but you're also free to take the thin-crust pizzas to go. Also available are beer, wine and soft serve ice cream. You can view the full menu here.

Golda

Location: Clinton Hill, 504 Franklin Ave.

What to eat: Breakfast, lunch, coffee, snacks. Golda is a new daytime cafe from the one of the minds behind Tilda All Day, which closed last year amid an ownership battle. The middle-eastern inspired menu has options like eggplant menemen, Turkish breakfast and baharat roasted carrots.


Ladybird

Location: East Village, 111 E. Seventh St.

What to eat: Vegan food. This East Village restaurant is a second edition for Ladybird, which closed its Greenwich Village location last year. The restaurant, from prolific NYC restauranteur Ravi DeRossi, has a completely meat-free menu which DeRossi says he's slowly bringing to all of his restaurants. On the menu at the tapas-style restaurant are dishes including fried avocado served with seaweed, shiso and black garlic-ponzu. The musician and animal rights activist Moby is an investor.


Ugly Baby

Location: Carroll Gardens, 407 Smith St.

What to eat: Thai food. A new restaurant from one of NYC's most acclaimed Thai chefs has opened in Carroll Gardens with a distinctly spicy menu. Dishes including crispy curried rice with pork skin and coconut and a five spice pork leg stew.
