Chelsea office workers heard a bang and watched a fire erupt on a rooftop Thursday night.

CHELSEA, NY — An enormous bang rang through the night and then a fire erupted on the roof of a Chelsea building.

Fire erupted on what appeared to be scaffolding on West 28th Street and Seventh Avenue about 6:45 p.m., Patch reporters observed.

Patch immediately called 911 then watched as fire trucks arrived minutes later and quenched the flames.
