Submerge Festival Returns To Hudson River Park Saturday
The free day-long fest includes kayaking, mobile river labs and even three birds of prey will make an appearance.

CHELSEA, NY — Kids can explore the rich biodiversity of the Hudson River Park Saturday at the fifth-annual Submerge Festival.
This year the city's largest outdoor marine festival boasts the biggest oyster found in the Hudson River — coming in at 8 and a half inches long — a trio of turtles at the fest's hour-long “Turtle Talks" event and will introduce budding scientists to a slew of Hudson River creatures including stripped bass, blue crabs and newly-hatched diamondback terrapins.
Pier 84, off of 12th Avenue and West 43rd Street, will host the ecological festivities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. geared toward acquainting youngsters with the more than 70 species in Hudson River Park.

And there won't be just marine life, experts with the Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York will host a meet-and-greet with three birds of prey — a red-tailed hawk, an Eurasian eagle owl and an aplomado falcon.
Young adventurer can also partake in free kayaking, fishing and a several other free, fun-filled educational activities.
