Suspect Snatches 72-Year-Old Woman's Purse in Nomad: Police

NOMAD, NY — The police are looking for a man who mugged an elderly woman just northwest of Madison Square Park early Thursday.

The 72-year-old woman was approached from behind by the suspect at 5:06 a.m. in front of 8 W. 28th St. The man grabbed the woman's purse, knocked her to the ground and stole her cell phone and $100, police said. The man fled east on 28th Street.

The suspect, seen in the video below, is described by police as a black man about 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot-7 and about 140 to 160 pounds. In the video, he can be seen running away from the scene with the woman's purse.
