VIDEO: UFC 205 Preview Highlights First Event at Madison Square Garden

The UFC is holding its first ever event in New York City, and they released a teaser trailer for the event this past weekend.

CHELSEA, NY — Professional mixed martial arts are on their way to New York City, and they're ready to do it up big-time. The Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) released a heavily city-inspired trailer previewing UFC 205 over the weekend.

The video, with a soundtrack provided by Ruelle's "Live Like Legends," highlights each of the fighters making their way to Madison Square Garden. The trailer also emphasizes the sporting history of MSG in boxing and hockey.

The event, taking place Nov. 12, will be the first professional mixed martial arts card in New York since the state legislature passed, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed, a bill making the sport legal. It was already legal in the 49 other states in the United States, but Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver had blocked legalization in New York for years. His conviction in 2015 on corruption charges paved the way for UFC to come to the Garden.

The card is highlighted by a champion vs. champion fight between brash-talking Irishman Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez over Alvarez's lightweight (155-pound) title. McGregor is the current featherweight (145-pound) champion. He's also the reigning champion of trash talk. McGregor, at first with his back to the camera in a blue pinstripe suit, is shown in an elevator and walking through the bowels of Madison Square Garden. Alvarez is shown at the Tick Tock Diner across from MSG.

Polish strawweight (115-pound) champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is shown walking through Penn Station and riding up the main escalator underneath the classic Amtrak board. Jedrzejczyk will be taking on fellow countrywoman Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Jedrzejczyk is shown in the Rangers locker room as the call from their 1994 Stanley Cup win is played.

Welterweight (170-pound) champion Tyron Woodley is shown leaving the Affinia Manhattan Hotel in Chelsea, while his opponent, Stephen Thompson, walks through Times Square.

New York-native Chris Weidman, the former UFC middleweight (185-pound) champion, will also be on the card.

By the way, if you were hoping to get tickets to the event, you better be ready to pony up some serious cash. Tickets sold out on Ticketmaster within hours and the cheapest tickets you'll find on StubHub start at $789 (two floor seats available for the low, low price of $40,000).
