CHELSEA, NY — The New York City exhibit of the immersive, Instagram-friendly artwork of Yayoi Kusama has been drawing hours-long lines since it opened last month.

Yayoi Kusama, an internationally recognized artist, has become one of millennial Instagrammers' favorite visionaries thanks to her immersive and colorful art installations.

Her exhibits regularly draw hours-long lines for art lovers who want a chance to snap a photo of themselves in her massive, room-wide art installations. Some of her most popular pieces include infinity mirrors or walls of polka dots or both, creating dizzying optical illusions.

In November, the David Zwirner Gallery opened two concurrent Kusama exhibitions. Zwirner is displaying Kusama's work in two buildings: one at 525 and 533 W. 19th St. in Chelsea and at 34 E. 69th St. in the Upper East Side.

In Chelsea, the gallery is displaying Kusama's "Festival of Life" exhibit, which includes two Infinity Mirror Rooms in addition to Kusama's paintings and sculptures. The Upper East Side gallery is housing her "Infinity Net" exhibit, the gallery said.

The art gallery, which is free and open to the public, is getting so many visitors for the "Festival of Life" exhibit in Chelsea that it's put together an FAQ to help desperate Kusama fans. The gallery cautions that you can expect a wait time of between two and four hours on an average day to get into the exhibit; sometimes more. The Chelsea locations have proven so popular that the gallery has taken to Twitter to warn visitors if the wait time is more than two hours.
