Yayoi Kusama Art Show In Chelsea Drew 75K Visitors: Report
The popular art show drew 75,000 visitors during its run in NYC, according to a new report.

CHELSEA, NY — The Yayoi Kusuama exhibition in Chelsea last year drew a whopping 75,000 visitors to the Instagram-friendly art show, according to a new report.
Kusama, an internationally recognized artist, has become one of millennial Instagrammers' favorite visionaries thanks to her immersive and colorful art installations. Her show in New York City was no exception: Hundreds of people waited in line each day to see the installations. Kusama's art was displayed by the David Zwirner Gallery opened two locations one at 525 and 533 W. 19th St. in Chelsea and at 34 E. 69th St. in the Upper East Side. The show was open from Nov. 2 until Dec. 22.
In total, Kusma's exhibition attracted 75,000 viewers, artnet News was first to report. At least 65,000 of those art-fiends waited in line for hours to see the exhibit, which was free for those willing to wait in line, according to artnet News. Another 10,000 school groups and VIPs saw the after hours.

In Chelsea, the gallery displayed Kusama's "Festival of Life" exhibit, which includes two Infinity Mirror Rooms in addition to Kusama's paintings and sculptures. The exhibit drew lines that stretched down the block; the gallery cautioned art lovers that they'd be waiting for at least an hour, and sometimes up to four hours, to get into the gallery.
