You Can Now Rent Andy Warhol’s Chelsea Apartment for $33K a Month

The "Chelsea firehouse," where Warhol lived in 1949, just hit the rental market.

CHELSEA, NY — The historic Chelsea firehouse on West 21st Street, once home to Andy Warhol, is yours to rent, if you can spare $33,000 a month.

The building, originally built in 1865, has been completely renovated, although it’s still marked by its characteristic red doors.

The four-bedroom apartment boasts 4,600 square feet of living space, which breaks down to an annual rent of about 86 per square foot, according the building’s listing. It's got a solarium, a library and a secret hidden office — plus heated floors on the main level.

Warhol briefly rented a room in the building, located at 323 West 21st St., from 1949 to 1950.
