2 Men Botch Attempted Theft Of Suffolk Walmart

They were trying to steal a 58-inch TV, but failed to do so after meeting an unlikely obstacle, police say. Now, they're wanted.

COMMACK, NY — Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is seeking the public's help in finding the two men who police say tried, and failed, to steal merchandise from a Commack Walmart.

The men entered the Walmart at 85 Crooked Hill Road on Oct. 2 around 9:30 p.m. and tried to steal a 58-inch Hisense Roku television and other goods, police said. However, their effort was unsuccessful after they tried to leave through a locked gate in the lawn and garden department, police said. They left the Walmart without stealing anything and are now wanted for petty larceny.

Police ask anyone with information to reach Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and leave an anonymous tip via phone call at 1-800-220-TIPS, texting "SCPD" and your message to "CRIMES" (274637) or by email at www.tipsubmit.com. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
