A gastropub and breakfast spot recently opened at the local center.

COMMACK, NY - Two new restaurants have recently opened in the Mayfair Shopping Center in Commack.
Guests can now enjoy meals at either the new gastropub Prato 850 or the new breakfast spot, Famous Toastery at the center on Jericho Turnpike.
Prior to a total rebranding by owner Len Oliva, Prato 850 had operated since 2000 as family-style Italian restaurant Ciao Baby.

The relaunch features complete interior and exterior renovations, the new outdoor patio area and new menu – in addition to the name change.
A wood-burning oven imported from Italy serves as a centerpiece of Prato 850. Along with wood-fired pizza and Italian favorites, the restaurant offers happy hour specials and a selection of craft beers.

"Commack is a great neighborhood, and Mayfair Shopping Center has served us well for two decades," Oliva said. "We are looking forward to serving the community for many more years at Prato 850, where we have created the next-generation of Italian gastropubs. Similar to Ciao Baby, this restaurant has an Italian focus but is much more casual in nature."
The restaurant also includes 25 large-format televisions to broadcast sporting and other special events.
"Our goal was to create a highly social atmosphere that combines high-end, chef-inspired food in a laid-back, relaxed setting," he said. "Everything on our diverse menu is organic and homemade."
Famous Toastery offers high-quality breakfast and lunch items made daily using fresh and organic ingredients.
The franchise’s affordably priced menu includes eggs, breakfast sandwiches, specialty omelets, and griddle favorites such as pancakes, waffles and French toast.

Lunch-goers can choose from a selection of sandwiches, salads, wraps, melts and gourmet burgers.
Founded by Long Island natives Robert Maynard and Brian Burchill, Famous Toastery first opened in Huntersville, N.C., in 2005. Franchised in 2013, Famous Toastery restaurants today are being rolled out in locations across the country.
"We are thrilled to expand and diversify Mayfair Shopping Center’s breakfast, lunch and dinner options with the openings of Prato 850 and Famous Toastery," Leasing Representative E.J. Moawad of Levin Management Corporation (LMC), said. "These two tenants not only are already serving as significant traffic generators, bringing a host of patrons to the center, but also are contributing to the property’s appeal by enhancing its overall ‘destination’ atmosphere for area consumers."
