Protestors Plan 'Unmask Our Kids Rally' Thursday Night In Commack
The Commack rally comes a day after a similar protest was held in Hauppauge, and others are planned in more Long Island towns.

COMMACK, NY— Continuing a week of rallies supporting a change in school mask policy for children, an "Unmask Our Kids" protest is planned for Thursday night in Commack.
A week ago Commack School District attempted to make mask wearing optional for students after the New York State Department of Health changed its official mask recommendations on April 9. But Gov. Cuomo's office overruled the district's decision, that it said was made because the schools were able to maintain the required social distancing necessary.
The rally is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., at Commack High School before the Board of Education holds at 7:30 p.m. meeting.

On Wednesday, Congressman Lee Zeldin attended a protest in Hauppauge against the student mask mandate.
“If Governor Cuomo would trust the science and use basic commonsense, he would lift the mask mandate on New York's school children today. Our kids have suffered too much already throughout this pandemic in so many destructive ways, developmentally, mentally, emotionally and physically,” Zeldin said to the group.

"Follow the science and follow common sense....No one is more desperate for and deserving of a return to normalcy than our youngest generation."
Zeldin referenced Commack's attempt to change the mask policy.
Both New York State and Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines both recommend in-school masking through at least the end of the school year.
A Kings Park rally is planned for Tuesday, June 8th.
