Commack 2020-21 School Budget Passes Handily

BREAKING: The results are in.

COMMACK, NY — Residents within the Commack School District boundaries voted to approve the 2020-21 school budget by a margin of 5,332 votes to 2,128.

Residents voted on the district's proposed $199,759,525 spending plan for the school year, a 1.37 percent increase from the current budget. To fund the increase, the district proposed a tax levy of $145,379,230 up 1.99 percent from the current year's.

This year, constituents voted by absentee ballot due to the coronavirus.

In the Board of Education election, Susan Hermer narrowly defeated Michael Weisberg, picking up 3,401 votes to Weisberg's 3,021. William Hender ran unopposed and garnered 5,157 votes.
