Commack Fire Department Visits Ex-Chief, 89, At Nursing Home
The ex-chief, like many, was missing visits. The firefighters, following social distancing guidelines, wanted to do something special.

MELVILLE, NY — Members of the Commack Fire Department took the time to pay a special visit to one of their own on Saturday: 89-year-old Fred Meuser, who served as chief from 1981 through 1983.
Meuser, living at Huntington Hills Center For Health & Rehabilitation, a nursing home in Melville, has been missing his regular visitation due to the new coronavirus. Commack firefighters, practicing social distancing guidelines, chose to do a "drill" to give Meuser a visit he wouldn't forget.
"This time teaches us how important spending time with people who are important in our lives truly is," retired captain Jack O'Loughlin stated.
