Commack Residents Approve School Budget

Commack residents headed to the polls Tuesday to vote on a school budget and elect board members.

COMMACK, NY - Commack residents approved the district's $197,062,213 proposed budget on Tuesday by a margin of 1,797 to 537.

The budget represents a 1.99 percent spending increase over the current year and a tax levy increase of 2.95 percent.

In the vote for Commack Board of Education members, incumbent Steven Hartman beat out Pamela Verity, Jennifer Mansi lost to Justin Varughese and Susan Hermer beat out Jennifer Scully for a one-year term created by the resignation of Jennifer Carpenter.

Hartman received 1,813 votes, Verity received 453 votes, Mansi received 660 votes, Varughese received 1,543 votes, and Hermer received 1,627 votes.
