Man Who Took Commack Girlfriend's Son Charged W/ Kidnapping: SCPD
The man was arrested after he took his girlfriend's 2-year-old son and drove off in her car, police say.

COMMACK, NY — A man was arrested Sunday morning after Suffolk police said he took his girlfriend's 2-year-old son.
Sherman Roberts Jr., 36, took Dio Palermo, his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son, from the child’s Commack residence on Moreland Road, at 2 p.m. Saturday, police said. The child's mother, Zakiya Mitchell, called 911 at 1:30 a.m., police said. Roberts Jr. drove Mitchell's 2008 black Mazda Tribute, police said.
Both Roberts Jr. and Palermo were found unharmed Sunday morning, police said.

Roberts Jr. was charged with second-degree kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
