The new center will provide services including In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), fertility preservation and address issues of infertility, to serve aspiring parents on Long Island.

The center began seeing patients last month and serves 60 to 80 patients daily with the capacity for 2,000 fresh IVF cycles annually.

The center is led by James Stelling, MD; Bradley Trivax, MD; Lauren Safier, MD and Richard Bronson, MD.

"This center is a first for Stony Brook Medicine and is incredibly important for people who are experiencing challenges in starting and growing their families," Stelling, Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility Specialist at Stony Brook Medicine, said. "It has been a long-time dream of mine to open a center like this that is so focused on the well-being and future happiness of our patients. It is also fitting that we open this center during National Infertility week and just after the passage of the New York State budget which will increase access to IVF for millions of New Yorkers."

Island Fertility offers a full range of diagnostic testing and most of these are done in the facility.

Diagnostic testing usually consists of a semen analysis, bloodwork for both male and female partners, sonograms for female patients, and imaging for female patients. Most diagnostic testing is covered by insurance and is either non-invasive or minimally invasive.

"This is another example of the extraordinary growth Stony Brook Medicine has pursued to serve our existing and new patients with the variety of health care needs they have," McGovern, Vice President for Health System Clinical Programs and Strategy, said. "Our model of putting 30 specialties under one roof has experienced tremendous success in Commack and we look forward to more growth in our future."
