Trotta Sworn In As Suffolk County Legislator

Fort Salonga Rob Trotta swore his oath of office to take his seat as a Suffolk County legislator on Jan. 2. 

Trotta, a Republican newcomer, defeated Democratic candidate Elane Turley with 65.46 percent of the vote in November to win a two-year term representing the 13th district.  The 13th district covers Smithtown, Fort Salonga, Kings Park, San Remo, Nissequogue, Head of the Harbor and St. James, as well as portions of Commack, Northport and East Northport.

Trotta is a life-long Suffolk resident, born in Commack before moving to Kings Park with his wife, Wendy, where they raise two children. 

The newly-elected legislator has served more than a decade with Suffolk County Police, where for the last 10 years he was assigned to the FBI Violent Crimes Task, working on cases involving everything from money laundering to drug busts. Trotta is member of the Kings Park Soccer, Kings Park Neighborhood Association, the Nissequogue River State Park Foundation and the Kings Park Civic Association.

Suffolk Legislature's 13th district was formerly represented by Lynne Nowick, R-St. James, who stepped down from the seat after 12 years due to the county's term limits. 

Nowick was elected to serve on Smithtown Town Board, where she began a four-year term on Jan. 1.
