A MacBook In Every Backpack at Deer Park Middle School

Students at Robert Frost Middle School in Deer Park now all have a technological edge when it comes to learning. The district recently issued every student in the school a MacBook, completing an initiative that began in 2010, and according to a statement released by the school, is "a means to increase instructional technology and provide one-to-one computing resources for the Deer Park School District’s students."

Sixth-graders are given an Apple MacBook computer when they come to the school at the beginning the year. The laptop follows the student throughout his career at the middle school. The MacBooks are collected from the students each summer and reissued the following September in three grade-level stages.

“Our district is excited to continue to provide our students with this technology, which can be used to support lesson plans, conduct academic research, enhance curriculum and improve the students’ tech-literacy skills, and the teachers at Robert Frost are eager to use the MacBooks as part of their instruction,” said Andrew Choi, the district’s instructional technology administrator.
