The clock was obtained with help from New York State Senator Phil Boyle and the Town of Babylon under then President John Simpkins and the initial ceremony, which was set for early-2020, was postponed due to the pandemic.
Prior to the ceremony, a solemn memorial service was held to honor and remember the lives of nine Civic Association members who passed away during the pandemic, including three executive board members, Ruby Hudson, John D. Norris, and Trevor Whyte.
