Celebrating Planet Earth at SSCM

Saints Cyril and Methodius School Students celebrate Earth Day with Mass and Monarchs

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth…and God saw everything that He had made, and, behold, it was very good.” (Genesis 1:1)

At Saints Cyril and Methodius School in Deer Park, planet Earth has been all the talk. Students have read stories, created projects, delivered presentations, participated in discussion groups and learned all about what they can do to help conserve natural resources and show the planet some respect.

Kindergarteners and 1st graders have been on quite a journey, as they watch caterpillar larvae firsthand, create booklets from their journaling on the progress and each of them eagerly awaits the arrival of butterflies. Meanwhile, fourth and fifth graders used nothing but recycled materials to create beautiful art and topped off their celebration of God’s green earth with an Earth Day Mass for the school and parish congregation. cleardot.gif
