Concerned Parents Attend Health Meeting Following TB Case
Health officials hosted a meeting after one individual was diagnosed with tuberculosis at Copiague Middle School earlier this month.

COPIAGUE, NY - Health officials hosted an informational meeting earlier this month following the tuberculosis case that has been confirmed at Copiague Middle School.
On April 1, school and county health officials announced that someone at the school contracted the disease, but did not specify if the individual was a student or staff member.
"Because the privacy of patients is carefully safeguarded under New York State Public Health Law, no further information about the individual will be disclosed," health officials said.

Superintendent Kathleen Bannon also confirmed in a letter to the community posted on the school's website that the individual was "out of school and receiving care."
The health department then hosted a general information meeting on Tuesday, April 2, but couldn't answer some of the questions from concerned parents due to patient confidentiality, according to a report in News12.
