Crimes Nearby: Man Charged In Accident That Injures Cop

Suffolk County Police arrested a man for leaving the scene of a crash in Great River that resulted in a police officer being injured.

According to police, Michael Rossiello, 27, of Bay Shore was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, reckless endangerment 2nd Degree and reckless assault 3rd Degree.

The police officer responding to the report of a crash on Connetquot Ave. struck a pole that was leaning across the roadway near Amityville Street and was injured.

Police said an investigation by Third Precinct Crime Control officers determined that Rossiello was the man who was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger north on Connetquot Ave, when the vehicle struck a pole at 4:10 a.m. this past Wednesday.

The injured officer was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she was treated for her injuries and released.

• Gas Station Robbed at Gun Point

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and detectives from the Second Squad are looking for a woman who they said robbed a Greenlawn gas station at gunpoint on New Year’s Eve.

According to police, a female entered the Gulf at 253 Broadway around 7p.m. and displayed a handgun. She fired a shot at the gas attendant, which did not strike him, and stole cash. Police said she fled northbound behind 7-Eleven.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black female, approximately 5 feet tall, skinny, large dark eyes, in her late 20s to early 30s. She was wearing all dark clothing that included a baseball cap, hooded sweatshirt and jacket, tight jeans and white sneakers. 

• Stolen iPhones

Crime Stoppers and the Second Precinct’s Crime Section are looking for a man who stole iPhones from a Verizon store in East Northport.

Police said on Tuesday, November 6, at around 8:40 p.m., a black male cut the security cords to two iPhones at the Verizon store located at 4000 Jericho Turnpike, and then fled the store with the phones.

The suspect is described as a black male and in his 20s. He was wearing a multi-colored coat and light-colored camouflage pants.
