Editor's note: We are spotlighting the top 10 students from the Class of 2013 at Deer Park High School based on class rank. All information courtesy of Deer Park Schools. No. 5 - Amanda Giglio Amanda is a hardworking, dedicated, and incredibly creative student.  During her time at Deer Park High School, Amanda has taken a total of 17 advanced courses. Last year, Amanda was awarded the recognition of being an "AP scholar," based on her stellar results on all of her AP exams. As a high achieving student, Amanda has had a full schedule every year, but she has always had a passion for art. Amanda elected to take summer classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology in order to continue her growth as both an artist and learner. In addition to being an ambitious learner, Amanda is also a dynamic community member who is genuinely interested in making the world a better place through understanding different cultures and appreciating individuality.  In tenth-grade, Amanda attended the RYLA youth leadership conference, and she identifies this experience helped to change her perspective and encouraged her to create change. Amanda is accomplishing this change as the current Vice President of the student council as well as through her many clubs and activities, of which there are a total of seventeen. Next fall Amanda will be attending either Fordham or the New School at Eugene Lang College.
