Deer Park HS Names Class Of 2021 Valedictorian, Salutatorian

DEER PARK, NY — Deer Park High School recently named its Class of 2021 valedictorian and salutatorian.

Jasleen Kaur was named as this year's valedictorian and Matthew Heinen was named as this year's salutatorian.

Kaur previously earned a perfect score on the ACT. She serves as president of Deer Park’s Red Cross Club as well as a member of DECA where she was a four-time state award winner and four-time international competitor.

She was eventually elected president of New York State DECA. She is also a member of the school’s varsity girls soccer and track teams. Kaur also interned on Jackie Gordon’s congressional campaign.

She will attend Harvard University in the fall, majoring in physics.

Heinen is a member of both the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society member.

As an athlete, he has played on the school’s varsity and JV soccer teams and participated in CYO travel basketball.

He will attend Haverford College this fall, majoring in computer science.
