Deer Park Proudly Unveils New Turf Field

A ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the high school's new turf field was held on Sept. 9

Deer Park held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the high school’s new turf field on Sept. 9, just prior to the start of the year’s first varsity football game against North Babylon.

The installation of the turf project at Al Centamore Football Field, completed over the summer, was part of improvement projects included in the district’s $17 million Capital Bond Referendum approved last October.

In attendance at the event were Superintendent Eva J. Demyen, Assistant Superintendents James Cummings and Marguerite Jimenez, Deer Park High School Principal Charles Cobb and Athletic Director Dominick Fontana. Board of Education President John Gouskos and trustees Al Centamore and Keith Rooney were on hand to cut the ribbon and cheer on the Falcons.

β€œI would like to thank the Deer Park administration and Board of Education for including the turf field on the bond agenda, and the entire Deer Park community for approving the bond,” said Fontana. β€œThe field looks amazing and it will greatly benefit our athletic programs moving forward.”
