Deer Park's Mathewson Nets Game Winner For Adelphi
Goal comes with 51 seconds remaining to lift Panthers to next round in Division II NCAA playoffs.

Deer Parkβs Melyssa Mathewson scored the game-winning goal Saturday for Adelphi as the Panthers topped LeMoyne College 9-8Β in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Womenβs Lacrosse Tournament.
Trailing 8-3, Adelphi rallied with five consecutive goals to tie the game at eight. With the clock winding down, Mathewson found the ball in her stick and beat LeMoyneβs goalie Molly Marbut with a low shot to give the Panthers a one goal lead, and ultimately the victory.
On the season, Mathewson has 22 goals and 18 assists. A member of Deer Park High Schoolβs Class of 2010, she was a four-year member of the schoolβs varsity team and was a three-time all county selection.
Adelphi moves on to the semi-finals where the Panthers will face LIU Post Saturday. Β
