Disaster Recovery Center to Benefit Recent Flood Victims

The State has opened a disaster recovery center to assist Suffolk County residents affected by the recent storm.

New York State has opened a disaster recovery center to assist Suffolk County residents displaced or severely impacted by flooding from the recent storm. The recover center is located at the Town of Islip Town Hall at 401 Main Street.

β€œI would like to thank Governor Cuomo’s office and our state officials for proactively assisting our region in this immediate time of need,” said County Executive Steve Bellone. β€œAll those who have swiftly pulled together to provide our residents with the necessary resources ought to be commended.”

State officials will instruct residents on how to file insurance claims and how to proceed with the Department of Motor Vehicles regarding abandoned or flooded vehicles. Additionally, mental health professionals and representatives from the American Red Cross will be available to provide further support.

The intake center will include representatives from Suffolk County’s Department of Health to update residents on public health related concerns. Suffolk County’s Department of Social Services will also be on hand to those in need of social services.
