Eagle Scout Project Benefits Beloved Children's Garden

Project beautifies the Marion G. Vedder Elementary Children's Garden

On September 29, David Martin, a Life Scout from Troop 399 in North Babylon completed his Eagle Scout project to benefit the Children’s Garden of Marion G. Vedder Elementary School in North Babylon. On this crisp fall morning, David provided leadership to his fellow Scouts and volunteers as they restored and refreshed the garden with a bounty of fall flowers. The garden was also weeded and readied to accept new visitors. The Children’s Garden is a cherished part of the North Babylon community, and is also home to two trees that were planted years 3 years earlier in memory of fifth-grader Taylor Dattoli and longtime MGV school security guard Bernard Lettieri. In addition to the garden, as part of his project, David also installed motion-activated lights at the rear school entrance to help visitors to the school navigate their way safely.

Boy Scout Troop 399 meetings are held each Thursday evening that schools are open at 7:30PM in the Marion G. Vedder Elementary School cafeteria.
