Firefighter Hospitalized After Battling North Babylon House Fire

The member of the North Babylon fire department suffered a "cardiac emergency" after battling the blaze Sunday evening.

NORTH BABYLON, NY β€” A firefighter was hospitalized after battling a North Babylon House fire Sunday evening.

Firefighters from the North Babylon, West Babylon, Babylon, West Islip and Deer Park fire departments responded to the blaze that broke out on the second floor of the Oakrest Lane home at 5:25 p.m.

After the fire was out, one of the members of the North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company suffered a cardiac emergency.

Suffolk police said the firefighter was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip in serious condition.

A Facebook post by the local fire department stated the firefighter was in stable condition Sunday night.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Arson Section detectives.
