Giving Thanks at Saints Cyril and Methodius School
Fourth and fifth graders share scripture readings and song at SSCM's 8:30am Mass.
Fourth and fifth graders at Deer Park's SSCM School helped Monsignor Clerkin deliver this Mondayβs 8:30AM Mass, gifting the community with scripture readings and songs. In addition to preparing for this beautiful Mass, the students also collected money to purchase a Stop nβ Shop gift card to donate to SSCMβs Parish Outreach. Local parishes and their volunteers are the lifeblood of parish social ministry on Long Island, where across the county, combined parish ministries include thousands of volunteers and serve as many as 75,000 people in need each year. The students gave thanks for their families, their teachers, parish staff and their school. They sang from their hearts and as Sister Susan challenged them at the end of Mass, they left with the mission of listening with their hearts to all around them. It was especially heartwarming at this time, when feeling and showing gratitude is so crucial to each of us finding everyday happiness. Many thanks to Mrs. Congro, Mrs. Weipert and Mrs. Sandkuhl for working with the students in preparation for this wonderful celebration of thanks!
