GoFundMe Created To Help Family Of Woman Killed By Husband

The fundraiser was created following the killing of Cathiana Bonny, who was fatally shot by her husband earlier this month.

DEER PARK, NY β€” A GoFundMe was created to help the family of the Deer Park woman who was killed by her husband earlier this month.

On Nov. 9, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man and woman with gunshot wounds inside an Eastwood Avenue home. Officers found 34-year-old Paul Bonny and his wife, 35-year-old Cathiana Bonny, with gunshot wounds. Their two children, ages 12 and 6, were inside a car in the driveway of the home at the time of the shooting. Both children were unharmed.

Police determined that Paul shot his wife then shot himself, police said. Police charged him with second-degree murder on Monday.

Last week, Deer Park resident Ann Bullis started the fundraising page to help the family. On the page, Bullis shared a message from Cathiana's brother:

It is with a broken, devastated and saddened heart that I share that my loving and amazing sister of 35 years was killed this past Monday. After years of emotional abuse at the hands of her husband she finally gained the courage to stand up for herself and was met with violence. My two nieces are fine and incredibly strong but sadly they witnessed the murder/suicide. My relationship with my sister over the last decade was not the best due to her husband. Despite that I have always been her big brother and her protector since birth. I tried so many times and so many ways to protect her but there was only so much I could do.I know my life will me we be the same. I know I may never stop crying. But I will live stronger in your name, in your love and for your nieces. I share these news for two reasons. First, any and all prayers and thoughts for my family at this time is greatly needed. Second, I am embracing my new purpose in life which is to share my sisters story and fight to end domestic violence. Any and all opportunities to share her story I want to take advantage of and I am hoping this network of amazing people can help in this cause. RIP sis. January 12, 1985 - November 9, 2020

The goal of the page is to raise $5,000 to help the family. As of Wednesday, the page has raised a total of $1,840.
